The Department of Pharmacy Practice creates through research, and disseminates in the biomedical literature, knowledge about the effective, safe and economical use of medications with the intent of improving the rational use of drugs in patients and in society.

The Department of Pharmacy Practice research themes encompass three distinct areas and include:

  • Clinical and translational research. The Department research programs serve to optimize drug therapy and improve health outcomes through the generation, integration, and translation of scientific information between the bench and the bedside, the patient and the population.
  • Scholarship of teaching and pedagogy including developing, evaluating and disseminating innovative educational methods for educating pharmacy leaders of the future.
  • Assessment of innovative pharmacy practice models and health services outcomes with the dissemination of research findings to ensure optimization of patients’ medication-related outcomes.
